"Nature all Around Me" invites persons of all ages and backgrounds to ground themselves in the environment that the Agua Hedionda Lagoon provides through experiential learning.
Your Co-hosts are Lisa Rodman, CEO, and Samantha Richter, COO of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation.
The foundation’s centerpiece is the Discovery Center, an interactive exhibit geared towards educating children about the ecology of the lagoon. Teachable subjects include flora and fauna, water conservation, aquafarming, astronomy, and Native culture. We established the Academy of Environmental Stewardship to educate the next generation of environmentalists.
A core mission of our trail walks and restoration program is to teach guests of all ages to appreciate and preserve the nature that is all around us.
Other initiatives and activities include recruiting volunteers, planning events, and, of course, fundraising through corporate and individual membership programs.
An example of the kind of success we've achieved: The foundation raised $8 million to eradicate a “killer algae” that threatened the viability of the lagoon.
